Breathtaking Verbier For family holidays

Verbier for Family Holidays

Winter childcare choices

Verbier has an expansive, world-class skiing terrain that you will be dying to explore on your well-deserved winter break.  It is also a ski resort with ample activities and childcare facilities for the little ones, so that they too can have a week to remember.  The excellent options available mean that parents can enjoy their ski holiday to the maximum whilst being assured that the children are in the safest possible care.

There are a number of different options available for the children and these vary slightly between age groups.

For the littlest in the family there is a local crèche “Les Schtroumpfs” (The Smurfs!) that is Swiss run but fully English speaking. They take children from the ages of 3 months through to 4 years and include lunch in their prices. All of the child carers are fully qualified and trained and the crèche is conveniently open for seven days a week.

Verbier also has a wide range of private nanny services such as Petit Verbier http://www.petitverbier.com/ which offers experienced, reliable nannies for the week or just for half days and comes highly recommended by the Duchess of York! They can arrange pick-ups from ski school and even bring the kids to join you for a family lunch. The company offers a flexible evening service from 6pm, allowing you to venture into the town to enjoy some après-ski in the eclectic range of bars, or dinner at one of its renowned Michelin starred restaurants for a treat. “Petit Verbier” also run a kids club at Place Blanche in the town centre. It is led by their very experienced child carers and offers a range of activities and an indoor play area. It has a drop off service so you can enjoy a precious hour or two of relaxation, or grab a coffee and hit the shops!

It is worth noting that a number of the catered chalets situated in Verbier provide childcare for your stay. This can make things far more convenient, as the qualified nanny can greet you upon arrival to ascertain your children’s specific requirements for the week. If it pleases you, your nanny can take the children into Verbier to explore the wintertime delights on offer, such as ice skating or husky sledging.

From the ages of 3 (or 2.5 in some cases) the little ones can strap on a pair of skis and start to discover the joys of alpine sport at the local ski schools.

The Kids Club http://www.verbierbooking.ch/fr/ess/kids-club-0-162 , run by the Swiss ski school is in a lovely enclosed area and aims to create a playful environment to gently introduce the young novices (from 3-5 years) to skiing. They make sure there is 1 instructor for every 2 children, and tailor the class to the your child’s pace and progress. After the lesson there is snow man building, sledding, fun in the alpine playground or indoors activities for your child to enjoy. If your little person is enrolled for the full day course lunch is included- one less thing for you to worry about!

There are a number of ski schools taking children from the ages of 5, which offer either half day or full day group sessions, divided into 3-hour classes. The majority can also provide the children with lunch as well if you so prefer. The kids can make new friends and learn to carve up the gentle slopes together.

The Adrenalin International Ski & Snowboard School http://adrenaline-verbier.ch/en/ offers fun filled baby ski lessons from the age of 2.5 which are limited to groups of only 4 and last for just 90 minutes so the kids are not over tired. They also run freestyle clinics for the older kids and teenagers. They have the “Junior” groups (9-12), “Adventure” groups (12+) and the “extreme” groups for the more experienced!

The Verbier Language School www.verbierlanguageschool.com offers the novel experience of allowing your children to enjoy a magical time on the slopes whilst also practising their language proficiency. They can have fun cruising the pistes, chatting away with the best specially selected language and ski instructors and afterwards sit down for lunch or a sociable hot chocolate together.

There are occasions when your family ski holiday will occur at an important academic time and you will be reassured to know that there are services available to ease your mind and provide your child with every advantage. “Enjoy Education” offers tutors to accompany you on your ski holiday for the entirety so that your child can make the most of their time off the slopes to keep up-to-date with their exam preparation and learning. The “Verbier Language School” also offers private tuition and exam prep for all of the standard English exams. Group classes are available, shaped to your child’s school syllabus, taught in a calm, fun environment.

This makes things nice and easy should you want to go for a hike that might be a bit too strenuous for the little ones or to explore one of the more intense mountain bike trails. You can feel reassured that your children are in safe hands and having a blast themselves.
